Winds.Process.2014.08
This process applies a more restrained approach to drawing with the wind data I have been collecting. Many of my drawings have a high level of complexity thanks to the 86,400 points of data collected each day at a location. With this simpler process, each drawing only uses average wind speed and direction for each hour of a day.
The drawing process starts with a 6 x 4 grid of twenty-four overlapping diamonds. Each diamond is colored in one of eight colors according to the cardinal or intermediate direction of the hour’s average wind direction. The hour’s average wind speed determines the number of times a diamond shifts location and repeats. This process only generates successful drawings if the day’s winds were high enough.
